A queen bee surrounded by workers

For our May meeting on Tuesday, May 24, Toe Cane Beekeepers will offer a Panel Discussion and “Ask the Beekeeper” session featuring members of various experience levels discussing their beekeeping techniques, successes, failures and all manner of opinions.

Come and join us at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Spruce Pine, with your questions, comments and friendly discussion.

Who’s agreed to be on the panel?  President Ed Geouge, former president Susan Spruill, Secretary and former president Debbie Griffith, Vice President Kristi Benningfield, Treasurer Ann Concannon Coomber, John Pearson of Pink Boot Farms and anyone else who wants to voice their opinions and advice to beekeepers new and old.

What’s the best way to add supers?  How do you requeen a laying worker hive? What the heck is a Layens hive and why would I want one? What is the Certified Honey Producer Program and how can I join? What makes a good queen, and where can I find one?  What’s blooming now?  How do I maximize my honey harvest?  These and other questions will be addressed by our panel so come with your own questions and join us Tuesday, May 24, 6:30 p.m. Trinity Episcopal Church, Spruce Pine.
