Bryan Fisher, a Certified Master Beekeeper and well-known breeder of queen bees, will speak at the February 28th meeting of the Toe Cane Beekeepers Association. The meeting will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 15 Hemlock Avenue, Spruce Pine, beginning at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
Fisher, a fourth-generation beekeeper, will talk about apiary operations, including how he manages more than 300 hives with minimal assistance. He will address the skills and knowledge necessary to increase your efficiency in the bee yard. His techniques can be useful whether you have four hives or four hundred.
Besides managing his apiaries, Fisher volunteers with the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association and has spoken to many bee clubs throughout North Carolina. He also sells queens, including VSH queens, and nucs. He is based in Kannapolis, N.C.
TCBA members who have not yet paid their 2022 dues may do so in person at the meeting. The club accepts checks, credit cards and cash. Dues are $10 for an individual membership and $15 for a family membership. Those interested in joining the TCBA or renewing their membership may also do so online at https://toecanebeekeepers.net/join/.
Should the meeting be postponed or canceled due to adverse weather, the TCBA will make an announcement on its web page.
