Enter your local honey in the Mayland Black Jar Honey Contest
Only honey harvested in Mitchell, Avery or Yancey counties of North Carolina in 2026 are eligible for entry.
Pick your Best Honey
Select two one-pound jars of the best honey you harvested in 2026. Glass Queenline jars only, other sizes will be rejected. Use your usual labeling.
Submit Application
Download the application and fill it out. Drop off your completed application and honey to the Yancey County Extension office in Burnsville 8:30-4:00. Applications are due by noon on Tuesday October 13th at 4 pm.
Free for Members
Entry is free for current members. Non-members must pay $15. Submitting a second variety or flavor is an additional $15 for both members and non-members.
Come Vote
Don’t forget to come by the Homeplace Beer Company Mezzanine at 321 W. Main St. in Burnsville at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 15th to sample the competition and place your vote.
