Enter your local honey in the Mayland Black Jar Honey Contest
Only honey harvested in Mitchell, Avery or Yancey counties of North Carolina in 2024 are eligible for entry.
Pick your Best Honey
Select two one-pound jars of the best honey you harvested in 2024. Glass Queenline jars are preferred. Use your usual labeling.
Submit Application
Download the application and fill it out. Drop off your completed application and honey to the Yancey County Extension office in Burnsville during business hours. Applications are due by noon on Monday, December 11, 2024.
Free for Members
Entry is free for current members. Non-members must pay $15. Submitting a second variety or flavor is an additional $15 for both members and non-members.
Come Vote
Don’t forget to come by the Homeplace Beer Company at 321 W. Main St. in Burnsville at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11 to sample the competition and place your vote.
